Why the Ocean Makes You Healthy

Today in San Diego we are experiencing Santa Ana’s, this is when the dessert air blows toward the ocean, giving us summer weather.  I immediately woke up and walked to the ocean, and wondered why are we so drawn to the ocean?

The ocean gives off negative hydrogen ions.  The breaking of the surface tension of water, by waves, falls or evaporation releases these ions to the atmosphere.  They can stick to different free radicals and can be very beneficial to our health.

The environment we live in today has far more sources of positive ions than in the past, creating an electrical imbalance in the air and our bodies. Also called free radicals, which are imbalanced molecules steal electrons from healthy cells to neutralize their own charge, causing cellular damage.

Negative ions of Hydrogen are more concentrated in fresh air. They can be produced by lightning, ocean surf and waterfalls or plants.  I have personally become addicted to fresh air and sleeping with windows open at all times.

Everyone go out and enjoy the sunshine, water, plants and nature, it is good for you!
