Why I appreciate Oprah has nothing to do with her, but with YOU and me!

Over 12 years ago, I was inspired to create the Conscious Nutrition Food Tree. I wanted to replace the Weight Watchers program of counting points with the CN Food Tree. This was from a place of ego and sheer will, along with a desire to enhance the way we approach our relationship with food.

Then what do you know, Oprah invests in Weight Watchers. For a brief second, I was worried that she was “selling out”, then I took a deep breath, tuned in and became ecstatic! I could feel it in my bones. She was going to shift the consciousness of dieting and weight loss. So, I put my money where my mouth is and purchased a ticket to one of her Super Soul Sessions. Guess where I landed? FRONT ROW and on the commercial!

Super Soul Sessions

Not many people know this, but right as I sat down in my seat in utter disbelief that I was in the front row, I felt completely insecure and undeserving. Why didn’t I wear something nicer, lose 10 pounds and get my hair done. I texted my friend to tell her where my seat was and what was going on in my head. She said, STOP, get over yourself, the speakers need YOU there to support them. Yep, she knew that supporting others is my passion and that helped me get OVER my sense of unworthiness in that second.

One amazing speaker after another who I have been following and inspired by for years came on stage, I was beaming from ear to ear. Then BAM, here comes Oprah with her signature talk that blows my mind. She had a rant for a few minutes where she knew MORE about the fundamentals of nutrition than I did. My eyes got so wide as I laughed with her and we had a moment of connection:) Oprah has been on her OWN (Oprah Winfrey Network) journey with her weight and nutrition. She had to wait until she was 62 years old to address her issues of NOT feeling certain feelings and eating them. She loves her corn nuts and crunch, and why shouldn’t she. I sense her childhood was super abusive and you can NOT address the issues until you feel SAFE and are ready.

Then a couple months after being at the Super Soul Session, I was speaking to a mentor. She asked me why it is important for me to share my work with Weight Watchers? After a few fumbling thoughts that didn’t feel quite right, out came, I want to OWN my power and help others OWN theirs. What does OWNing your power to you mean and feel like? I feel Oprah is a beacon to help people live their fullest from their OWN soul.

Now, two years later, Weight Watchers has changed their name and slogan, “Wellness that Works”, helping you sleep better, have more energy and lose weight. And Oprah even is quoting, “Less counting, more enjoying”. During her epic talk, she mentioned it isn’t about the food and that WW was a tool for her to CONNECT to herself.

So where do we go from here? What do you need to be in your OWN power?

One of my biggest fears is that I don’t want my nutrition programs and philosophy to be part of the problem. The problem of causing more confusion or disconnect. That is why I what you to become the guru of YOU!

During the 3-week RESET, you will reveal more and more of your OWN inner wisdom. Each week we will highlight some concepts you may already know and some new ideas you may not have thought of. I have personally done this program over 20 times, and each time I discover something new or am reminded of a meal or habit that I forgot I loved.
