Which Foods Support Which Organs This Time of Year?

We are heading into another season change and our bodies tend to crave certain foods to support organs to function optimally. Chinese Medicine identifies certain organs with the time of year. This time of year emphasizes the Lungs and Large Intestine.

The Lungs bring in the new oxygen and the Large Intestine is in charge of taking out the waste and what we do not need.

This website took what I wanted to write to the next level

My favorite take-aways from the article are:

    1. The Big 3-5 Breaths and hold to the count of 5 to fill and empty the lungs and do that minimum of 3 times a day. I have been emphasizing breathing a bunch due to how our body releases body fat through Co2 from the lungs, Check out more from this past blog.
    2. I have been craving sour like crazy. Fermented veggies, sourdough bread, grapefruit, and radish. Keep an eye out for gluten-free sourdough bread and have a good old fashioned grilled cheese with veggie soup. Yes, I only want us to have joy and compassion for ourselves and food, and sometimes a good ole Grilled Cheese may offer you support.
    3. Wear a scarf to protect yourself from the wind and support your immune system from getting to taxed.
    4. Soup. Soup. Soup. My dear friend made me a garden fresh soup in her blender and the temperature was perfect, not too hot and extra nourishing.

Here is a fun soup recipe to blend up with your Grilled Cheese:

Chipotle Tomato Soup
2   cups diced or whole tomatoes in their juice
1  chipotle pepper, use half for less spice
12  carrot
14  onion
12   tsp sea salt
12   tsp raw organic honey
2   tbsp coconut cream
Blend for 90 Seconds.
Stay nourished and warm,
Heather Fleming, C.C.N
