What Aren’t You Eating?

Congress is trying to pass a law to add pizza as a vegetable for school lunch. Also, they are keeping potatoes as fries and tomato as ketchup on this vegetable list. It isn’t JUST what we are eating that is causing dis-EASE, however it is what these low nutrient foods are replacing.

The most common foods in the American Diet include; Oreo Cookies (#1 cookie), Potato Chips(#1 Snack), Hot Dogs, Hamburgers, French Fries, Pizza and Soda. It doesn’t take an expert to realize that these foods eaten consistently REPLACE what you REALLY need. If you are eating the Standard American Diet (SAD), you’re body will steal nutrients from your bones and organs to keep your heart pumping.

The foods your body needs to thrive is in every diet book; vegetables, healthy fats, root vegetables, complex grains, healthy animals, and chocolate (Oh Wait that is my diet book). The perfect person will never eat a french fry again, however don’t strive to be perfect, strive to implement EXCELLENT foods into your daily life.

The secret is counterbalance. If you eat the pizza;
1. DON’T feel guilty, let it go
2. Eat a HUGE salad with olive oil, vinegar and avocado with it. This will cut down on over consuming MANY slices.
3. Have a healthy meal before and after the pizza experience.
4. Drink lemon water or herbal tea 30 minutes after.
5. Have extra vegetables on top.

Take a daily inventory of what you are and aren’t eating, this will set you up for a life of nutrition success.
