Pause during Menopause
I would LOVE to be a menopause expert, but I am NOT!
Perimenopause hit me like a truck. I didn’t have ANY symptoms until one day, and I had ALL of the symptoms.
My journey with my womb hasn’t been easy or breezy. It has been one of my sensitive areas besides my digestion, acne, urinary tract infections, and such.
I remember the day I got my period and thought I was going to die in my junior high locker room. The pain, my naivety, and the discomfort brought me down. I remember lying on the bench and couldn’t move.
The opposite is happening to our ovaries, which are becoming dormant.
After my father’s death was my first perimenopausal symptom, I thought it was just stress. Then, a few months later, living with my mom and selling my childhood home was my second symptom. (you sense an emotional connection, right? How about you?:)
Then, the next missed period and intense side effects were my 50th birthday party.
My main symptoms are:
- Night Sweats
- Missing a period here and there
- BLOATING
- And super, super tired
- CHEESE craving is crazy, especially Feta.
I worked with a fantastic herbalist and found balance, followed by upheaval. Then, I did more emotional work and added more herbs, again finding balance, followed by upheaval.
A few logistics also happened: a mudslide took out our mail system, so my herbalist herbs would not reach me.
You can sense the trend here. I am currently trying natural progesterone and estrogen creams, and, holy moly, a game changer.
99% of my symptoms are alleviated and my period is back, which is what I personally intended. I didn’t feel my body was ready for full on menopause, Since I didn’t give birth, my endometrial lining is a bit thicker.
After listening to ALL the experts and MYSELF, my focus is on acupuncture, chiropractic, and energy work and visiting an integrative physician when ready; it is a constant adjustment.
What worked for me for a few days didn’t work for the next.
How do you respond to this, and does your lifestyle support adjusting?
Mine does. Thank the heavens. And menopause on top of a mountain is the best remedy:)
