How to work with your resistance

The holidays are amongst us. How are you feeling? A bit frantic? Tired already? Relaxed? Joyful? I am feeling a little bit of all of them.
I have been wanting to join the gym since I came back to my hometown. I have not. Finally, a couple of weeks ago, I let myself off the hook and added this task to my December calendar.
Instantly, I felt relief. Instead of beating myself and allowing the resistance to be a bully, I was honest with myself that I didn’t have the energy to get that ball rolling. Now, with the extra energy, I have been going for heaps of walks with the pooch.

One of my favorite books about resistance is the “The War of Art” by Steven Pressfield. He claims resistance is a mythical concept that illustrates the universal force that acts against human creativity and has one sole mission: to keep things as they are.
Pressfield claims that Resistance does not have a personal vendetta against anyone, rather it is simply trying to accomplish its only mission. It is the force that will stop an individual’s creative activity through any means necessary, whether it be rationalizing, inspiring fear and anxiety, emphasizing other distractions that require attention, raising the voice of an inner critic, and much more.
Pressfield goes on to claim that Resistance is the most dangerous element to one’s life and dreams since its sole mission is to sabotage aspirations. He explains steps that human beings can take to overcome this force and keep it subdued so that they can create to their fullest potential, although resistance is never fully gone.
Which I totally agree with. That is why we have to continuously work on it.
One example he shares is how we don’t want to do the dishes, even if there is only a few and it will take us minutes. We keep putting it off until something else comes up and then the dishes are easy and breezy to get done. But for a while, these dishes were holding us back.
If you are wanting to work on your OWN resistance, I will be hosting my seasonal FREE 5-day Ease-In program on January 18th, 2022!
And if you are like me, you may sign up and NOT join since it is free or other priorities such as good ole RESISTANCE may sneak in. To assist you in working WITH your resistance. I created another option for YOU!
Sign up and pay $22 (in honor of numerology and the new year).
This is for YOU! You create accountability by paying this amount and allowing yourself to NOT worry for the next few weeks about what you ‘should’ be doing for the New Year. You get to watch your fears try to grab hold of you, while you relax and enjoy your holidays by nourishing yourself versus shoulding on yourself.
This ping pong energy and resistance exhaustion create an influx of stress hormones that alone can cause more weight gain, inflammation and symptoms.
I know this is kinda early, however, I don’t want you expending ANY useless energy trying to go on a strict, controlled diet.
