Foods that Heal

Nutrition wisdom is a journey. We will be consistently learning about our bodies through our lifetime. As we evolve we will need to adjust, implement, experiment and practice many options to provide the optimal nutrients to take our bodies to the next level of health & vitality.

A great resource to have on hand is “Foods that Heal” by Bernard Jensen. This book will provide you with quick references to support symptoms that may arise during this thing called life.

The information, recipes and support he offers in this book is extremely helpful for you to have “on demand” information. For example, he individually lists foods for you to have a better understanding of the role they play in the body.
Turnips: Have Potassium & Calcium are a good for asthma, sore throat, and bronchial disorders.
Watermelon: Has Silicon, Calcium & Sodium and are good for kidneys and a blood cooler.

He offers recipes to implement these foods easily into your diet. Check out this one for Cauliflower Curry:
2 T of Grape seed oil
1 t of finely grated ginger
1/2-1 t of cumin
1/2 t of tumeric
1 Large onion
1 head of cauliflower cut into bite-sized floweretes
1/2 c of water
1/2 t of sea salt
1/3 cup of whole raw almonds

1. Heat oil, add spices and onion in a skillet over medium heat.
2. Add cauliflower, stir for 3 minutes. Add water, salt & cover over low heat for 15 minutes.
3. Roast almonds in a toaster oven for 5-10 minutes @ 350. Or ideally use sprouted almonds.  Sprinkle almonds on top & serve.
